Dishwasher Soap --- If "50 lb bag" is daunting -- know you may only need to do this once every two years depending on usage
(I believe this is googleable under “best homemade dishwashing soap”)
Take a 50 lb bag of Baking Soda
Bake half of it on cookie sheets in the oven @ 400 degrees
Mix occasionally….you’ll be able to tell when it is done because it become grainy, dull & opaque
(you really will, it’s so easy!)
Now, this end result is called “Washing Soda”
Keep some out to mix
Put the plain baking soda in one big container, and the “washing soda” in the other — LABEL
Mix 50/50 washing soda and baking soda in a mason jar (1 cup and 1 cup)
Put one heaping tablespoon (give or take, you’ll see how much to put in after a few times…spots and film…use a little less, not clean, use a little more) in the dishwasher soap compartment
Add some drops of lemon essential oil, or lemongrass (orange or any citrus ok)
Add 1/4 cup salt to your 2 cups of washing soda and baking soda mix if you do not have soft water in your house
Can add vinegar to the rinse aid compartment if you have spots….
If the soap clumps and isn’t dissolving, you can set your water hotter; another thing you can do is take a flexible rubber ice cube tray or baby food tray….you’d add some water to the mix, and put it in the tray, so it’s more of a paste. It will harden, but when you put it in the dishwasher it will dissolve better.
I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve made this, it’s been at least two years. It’s so easy…I am not DIY at all….
